Ida Windingstads work often takes form as a mix between poetry and politics that immerses us into a symbolic and surreal world. By breaking down classic narratives and narrative structures she wants to explore whether surrealism and documentary representations of reality can be the same or if they are totally different phenomena. Her work mostly consists of text, experimental films and installations.
Windingstad studied script writing, directing and film production in Norway and Sweden. She attended The Royal Institute Of Art In Stockholm studying the project program in video art and studied visual communication, video, photography and art history at Konstfack, Stockholm. She received the Swedish Film Institute´s scholarship for young female filmmakers in 2013.
Windingstad has recently returned back to Norway after thirteen years abroad. She is now based in Stavanger, Norway.
